There were 2 key studies conducted in the early 90’s, relating to the effectiveness of Magnetic Therapy Pads.

The first of which was “Assessment of the Therapeutic Effects of Magnetic Therapy Pads: A Double Blind Study.”

Study #1:

One of the most significant of them related to the effectiveness of the Magnetic Therapy Pad and was conducted in 1990, by Dr. Kazuo Shimodaira, based in the “Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department of the San-Ikukai Hospital, The Tokyo Communications Hospital, and The Kouseikai Suzuki Hospital, in Japan. Findings: Magnetic Mattress Pads 431 patients with a variety of ailments participated in a double blind trial over a period from 2 weeks to 6 months. (A “double blind” trial means one where neither the patient(s) nor the doctor(s) and nurse(s) know which patient receives what treatment) 375 patients used magnetic pads and 56 used non-magnetic pads to lie on.

Patients were constantly monitored for side effects. No abnormal changes were found.

70% of the patients exhibited improvement within 5 days, over 53% in 3 days.

 

Conclusion – Study #1: Magnetic pads proved to be effective in a high percentage of the cases and with no adverse side effects to report. Source: Dr. Kazuo Shimodaira, Tokyo Communications Hospital, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Tokyo, Japan, 1990.

Study #2:

The second study was conducted in 1992 at the Kagoshima University School of Medicine (Department of Orthapedic Surgery).

Findings: Magnetic Mattress Pads In this controlled study, 154 outpatients and a number of inpatients were divided into two groups, one was provided with magnetic mattress pads, the other with mattress pads without magnets. Assessments were performed one month after use. Patients with stiff shoulders were the primary subjects; many had lower back pain as well. Effects were noted in some cases within one week, most within three weeks, and others four weeks.

Conclusion – Study #2: Mattress pads with magnetic devices were significantly effective for those using them as opposed to the control, non-user group.
